Processable materials
Every polymer behaves differently under heat and shear. Plasmac recycling systems are engineered with specific screw geometries and temperature profiles to handle a vast spectrum of thermoplastics.
From standard polyolefins to technical engineering plastics and biodegradable compounds, we ensure gentle processing to preserve the physical properties of your material.
Polyethylene & Polypropylene
The backbone of the packaging industry. These materials require high-output, efficient processing.
LDPE / LLDPE
Applications
Blown film, shrink wrap, pallet wrap, packaging film, lamination film, agricultural film.
Challenge
High elasticity and low bulk density.
Solution
Our Alpha direct-feed extruders excel here, densifying the light fluff instantly. We maintain high optical clarity for film-to-film recycling.
HDPE
Applications
Blow moulding (bottles), pipes, shopping bags.
Challenge
Crystallinity and rigidity.
Solution
PP
Applications
Cast film, raffia tapes, injection moulded crates, food packaging.
Challenge
Wide range of Melt Flow Indices (MFI).
Solution
Specifically designed screws handle PP based materials.
Technical and Styrenic polymers
The backbone of the packaging industry. These materials require high-output, efficient processing.
PS / EPS / XPS
Applications
Insulation foam, food trays, hangers.
Challenge
Foam is extremely light (low density); rigid PS is brittle.
Solution
Our feeding systems can handle expanded foam without bridging. Gentle melting prevents the degradation of polystyrene chains.
ABS / PC-ABS
Applications
Automotive parts, electronics housings.
Challenge
Hygroscopic nature and sensitivity to shear.
Solution
Requires vacuum degassing to remove moisture before extrusion. Our bimetallic barrels resist the abrasion from fiberglass often found in these compounds.
Bio-polymers
PLA / PBAT / Starch blends
Applications
Compostable bags, cutlery, mulch film.
Challenge
Extremely low thermal degradation threshold. They burn easily.
Solution
Plasmac’s Short Screw Technology (SST) is perfect for bio-plastics. The minimal residence time ensures the material is melted and pelletized before it has a chance to degrade or cross-link.
Not just chemistry, but form
We process materials in any physical state:
- Films: Rolls, loose scraps, edge trims
- Regrind: Granulated rigid parts
- Rigid: Pipes, lumps, thick sheets
- Foams: Expanded polystyrene or PE foam
- Fibers: Non-woven fabrics and raffia tapes
